Size

The SRAM HS2 6-Bolt Rotor is built specifically for modern mountain bikes and eMTBs where braking loads are higher, speeds are faster, and heat management matters far more than it used to.

Compared to older CenterLine rotors, the HS2 uses a thicker 2.00mm brake track, a redesigned braking surface, and recessed spokes with thermal-dissipating paint to improve braking power, reduce noise, and control heat far more effectively. SRAM states the result is 7% more braking power with significantly better thermal management—designed so the last descent feels like the first.

The updated brake track pattern improves pad traction and consistency, while the thicker rotor mass helps resist heat fade on long descents. This is especially important for eMTBs, where heavier bikes and sustained braking expose weaker rotor systems quickly. SRAM specifically positions the HS2 as an MTB-specific rotor, not a generic crossover road/gravel rotor.

The 6-bolt version gives the classic direct rotor mount many gravity riders still prefer for simplicity, serviceability, and reliability. It’s available in:

  • 160mm
  • 180mm
  • 200mm
  • 220mm

For aggressive trail, enduro, downhill, and eMTB use, this is one of the best rotor upgrades you can make—particularly when paired with high-power brakes like Maven, Saint, TRP EVO Pro, or Hope Tech 4 V4.

Key Features

  • 2.00mm thick rotor for improved heat capacity and braking stability
  • SRAM claims 7% more power vs previous CenterLine rotor

Torque Collective Insight

This is the rotor we recommend for proper eMTB braking setups.

A lot of riders upgrade brakes… but leave weak rotors in place.

That limits everything.

The HS2 matters because:

  • more rotor mass = better heat control
  • thicker rotor = stronger, more consistent braking
  • better pad interface = stronger stopping power

On heavier eMTBs, this becomes very noticeable.

Especially with:

  • SRAM Maven
  • Shimano Saint
  • TRP EVO Pro
  • Hope V4 setups

The move from standard thinner rotors to HS2 is one of those upgrades riders feel immediately—less fade, more consistency, and better confidence on steep terrain.

For aggressive riding, we’d choose this over standard CenterLine every time.

General Guidance

180mm

Best for:

  • lighter trail bikes
  • lighter riders
  • rear rotor on lighter setups

200mm

Best all-round:

  • aggressive trail
  • enduro
  • standard eMTB front/rear use

220mm

Best for:

  • full-power eMTBs
  • heavier riders
  • bike park / alpine riding
  • maximum braking performance

For most aggressive eMTB setups:
200mm rear + 220mm front is the sweet spot.
