Choose the correct braking part
Brake components are safety-critical. Match parts to the exact brake model and respect the limits specified by the brake, fork, frame and hub manufacturers.

Check six-bolt or Center Lock fitment, rotor diameter and the correct adaptor. Confirm the fork and frame permit the intended rotor size.
Rotor thickness varies between braking systems. Use a rotor approved for the caliper and pad combination rather than choosing on diameter alone.
Hydraulic brakes use either mineral oil or DOT fluid as specified by the manufacturer. They are not interchangeable and must never be mixed.
Identify the correct part
Clear photographs of the caliper, lever, current pads and rotor markings usually provide the quickest route to checking the correct replacement.

Complete braking performance
Larger rotors or aggressive pads are not automatically the right answer. Lever setup, system condition, bleeding, caliper alignment, pad compound, rotor condition and correct bedding-in all contribute to how the brake performs.
Use the exact caliper model rather than the bike brand. Pad shapes can be very similar, so compare the manufacturer part reference or send us photographs of the caliper and existing pads.
It depends on the brake, rotor and riding conditions. Organic pads can offer strong initial bite and quieter operation; sintered pads generally tolerate sustained heat and wet conditions better. Always confirm the brake and rotor permit the chosen compound.
Possibly, but the fork, frame, hub, caliper and adaptor must support it. A larger rotor changes leverage and heat capacity, so check manufacturer limits before fitting.
No. Use only the fluid specified by the brake manufacturer. Mixing them can damage seals and cause brake failure.
Yes. Correct bedding-in transfers an even layer of pad material to the rotor and is important for power and consistency. Torque can bed in newly installed brake components.
