Wheel Truing

£30 minor · £60 major

Wheel truing corrects serviceable alignment and tension problems to help the wheel run straighter and more consistently. We inspect the wheel before classifying the work as minor or major.

Minor Wheel True

  • For a lightly buckled wheel requiring only limited correction
  • Wheel condition and spoke tension checked
  • Localised corrections made where the components remain serviceable
  • Final trueness and tension checked

Major Wheel True

  • For any wheel requiring substantial adjustment
  • Broader spoke-tension correction and balancing
  • Spoke or nipple replacement carried out where required
  • Wheel assessed for rim, spoke and nipple limitations
  • Final trueness and tension checked

When to Book

  • Visible side-to-side movement
  • Uneven or loose spoke tension
  • Brake rub caused by wheel alignment
  • A wheel that has moved out of true following an impact

Spoke and nipple replacement is undertaken only as part of a major true; replacement spokes and nipples are charged separately. Truing cannot repair a cracked, structurally damaged or excessively deformed rim. We will explain when a wheel is not safely or economically repairable.

Hub Bearing Service

£25 per wheel

Workshop attention for wheel hubs showing roughness, play or bearing wear. The hub is assessed first so we can confirm access, bearing condition and any replacement parts required.

Condition Assessment

  • Hub rotation and play checked
  • Axle and accessible bearing interfaces inspected
  • Likely bearing requirements identified

Workshop Work

  • Hub accessed using suitable workshop tooling
  • Serviceable interfaces cleaned and prepared
  • Hub reassembled and checked following the agreed work

The £25 price is labour only and applies per wheel. Replacement bearings are charged separately because sizes and specifications vary between hubs. Some hub designs, seized components or damaged bearing seats may require additional labour or may not be economically serviceable.

Tubeless Setup

£25 single · £50 pair

Professional tubeless setup for compatible mountain-bike and e-MTB wheels and tyres, helping create a reliable seal and practical trail-ready pressure setup.

Setup & Inspection

  • Rim and tyre compatibility checked
  • Rim bed and existing setup inspected
  • Rim tape and sealant supplied as part of the service
  • Tubeless system assembled and inflated
  • Initial seal checked

Recommended For

  • First-time tubeless conversion
  • A leaking or unreliable setup
  • Tyre or rim changes
  • Refreshing a neglected tubeless system

Rim tape and sealant are included. Valves, replacement tyres and tyre inserts such as CushCore are charged separately. Tubeless success depends on compatible and serviceable rims and tyres; components that cannot hold a reliable seal may require replacement.

Practical Advice Before Unnecessary Work

We assess condition before committing workshop time. If a rim, hub or tubeless combination is unsafe, incompatible or uneconomical to repair, we will explain why and recommend the most sensible next step. Parts availability or additional faults can affect turnaround and will be communicated clearly.

Useful information

Wheel & Tubeless FAQs

What is the difference between a minor and major wheel true?

A minor true is only for a lightly buckled wheel requiring limited correction. Anything requiring substantial alignment or tension adjustment is treated as a major true.

Can every buckled wheel be repaired?

No. Cracked, severely deformed or structurally damaged rims may be unsafe or uneconomical to repair. We will explain the condition before proceeding.

What parts and materials are included?

Rim tape and sealant are included in the tubeless setup price. Bearings, spokes, nipples, valves, tyres and inserts are charged separately. Spokes and nipples are replaced only as part of a major true.

Can every wheel and tyre be converted to tubeless?

No. The rim and tyre must be compatible and in suitable condition to create a reliable seal.

Do you currently offer custom wheel building?

No. Torque Collective is not currently taking custom wheel-build commissions. Our current wheel services focus on truing, hub bearings and tubeless setup.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. The workshop is appointment-led so that each job receives properly allocated workshop time.
