Rider First
More than two decades riding mountain bikes created an understanding of what riders notice, what matters on the trail and how frustrating a bike that never feels right can be.
About Torque Collective · Kelvedon, Essex
Torque Collective is an independent specialist MTB and e-MTB workshop created for riders who expect their hard-earned bikes to be understood, respected and worked on properly.
The honest reason
Torque started with a frustration. Too often, bikes that riders had worked hard to own were being handled by general bike shops as though every bike—and every rider—needed the same generic answer.
A modern mountain bike or e-MTB is not generic. Suspension design, electronics, component compatibility, frame standards, routing and rider setup all matter. The work deserves the right knowledge, enough time and proper attention to detail.
After more than 20 years of riding and several years working on bikes from his garage, Darren decided to make the business official and take on the challenge of building the specialist workshop he wanted riders in Essex to have.
From rider to specialist workshop
Torque was not created as a retail concept with a workshop added afterwards. It grew from riding, hands-on mechanical work and a genuine interest in how modern bikes perform.
More than two decades riding mountain bikes created an understanding of what riders notice, what matters on the trail and how frustrating a bike that never feels right can be.
Several years working on bikes from a home garage developed the practical foundation, care and problem-solving approach behind Torque.
The business is now a dedicated specialist workshop in Kelvedon, combining professional training with an appointment-led approach to MTB and e-MTB work.
