Fitment

The Peaty’s Monarch Grips are a highly considered contact point, built around one goal—delivering the right balance of control, comfort, and durability for modern MTB and eMTB riding.

What sets them apart is the choice of two distinct top textures, allowing you to tune feel based on riding style:

  • Knurl → more direct, aggressive feel for precision and control
  • Mushroom → more compliant, shock-absorbing feel for comfort on longer rides

Both share the same underlying design. A tapered, offset core places more rubber under your palm for damping, while keeping the underside firmer for precise finger control. This creates a more balanced feel—absorbing impacts without losing connection to the bars.

The 20A rubber compound strikes a deliberate middle ground—grippy enough for control, but durable enough for real-world use.

Additional details like the zig-zag thumb pad, finger grip bars, and pinky ramp all contribute to a more stable, locked-in feel without forcing your hand into a fixed ergonomic position.

For eMTB riders, this matters more than most realise. Increased bike weight and longer rides mean more load through your hands—having a grip that balances damping and control makes a noticeable difference over time.

Key Features

  • Two texture options:
    • Knurl: aggressive, precise control
    • Mushroom: comfort-focused, shock absorbing
  • Soft 20A compound for grip, comfort, and durability balance
  • Tapered grip profile (narrow inner → wider outer) for improved hand support
  • Offset core with more damping under the palm
  • Finger grip bars underneath for control under load
  • Zig-zag thumb pad for stability and reduced friction
  • Half flange and outer pinky ramp for hand positioning
  • Thin (30–32mm) and Thick (32–34mm) diameter options
  • Core made from 80% recycled plastic
  • Slim 8mm lock ring maximises usable grip area

Torque Collective Insight

This is where grips get interesting—because this isn’t just “one product”.

It’s a tunable contact point.

  • Knurl = control-focused setup
  • Mushroom = comfort-focused setup

For eMTB riders, that choice becomes more important:

  • Longer rides → fatigue becomes a factor
  • Heavier bikes → more vibration through hands
  • More descending → more need for control

If you’re:

  • pushing harder, riding aggressively → go Knurl
  • riding longer, prioritising comfort → go Mushroom

Both sit in a really strong middle ground—more refined than basic grips, but not overly prescriptive like full ergonomic designs.

Fit & Sizing

  • Thin: 30–32mm diameter
  • Thick: 32–34mm diameter

General guidance:

  • Smaller hands / precision feel → Thin
  • Larger hands / more damping → Thick

Grip choice is highly personal—but diameter has a bigger impact than most riders realise.

Who It’s For

  • Trail and eMTB riders
  • Riders wanting to tune feel (control vs comfort)
  • Riders doing longer rides or technical terrain
  • Riders upgrading from basic grips

Who It’s Not For

  • Riders wanting ultra-soft, maximum damping grips
  • Riders wanting fixed ergonomic shapes (like Ergon wing grips)
  • Riders who don’t want to think about setup choices
